Saudi Media Forum continues today in Riyadh with global engagement
February 20, Kathmandu: The Saudi Media Forum, which began on Wednesday (February 19) in Riyadh, moved into its second day on Thursday, drawing Saudi royals, ministers, media executives, and influencers from across the world.
Running through Thursday, the event highlights Saudi Arabia’s place in the global media landscape. The forum opened with a speech by Saudi Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dossary, followed by a session featuring Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also joined a discussion on how media shaped his political career, a topic of interest to international attendees.
Spanning 35 panel discussions and 11 workshops, the event brings together speakers from Saudi Arabia and beyond to explore media trends. Wednesday saw the launch of the Future of Media Exhibition (FOMEX), where over 250 companies from local and global markets showcase technologies in digital broadcasting and production.
On its first day, six agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed to support digital infrastructure, broadcasting, and tourism projects linked to Saudi Vision 2030—efforts that resonate with development goals in regions like Nepal. Workshops on media innovation and digital content creation have also been part of the agenda, offering insights for professionals.
The forum wraps up on Thursday, providing a platform for media leaders and researchers, with relevance to growing media scenes worldwide, including Nepal.
