PM Oli congratulates nominees of PM National Talent Award

 

Kathmandu, Feb 19: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has congratulated all those who are selected for the ‘Prime Minister National Talent Award.’.

 

Taking to the social networking site on Wednesday, PM Oli wrote, “Congratulations to all talents, making Nepal proud. Salute to your devotion, hard work, and contribution.” PM Oli shared that he had received the ‘Leadership and Good Governance Award’ of 100,000 US dollars presented by the Universal Peace Federation, Korea, in December 2018, and the decision was taken to present the National Talent Award every year by establishing a revolving fund with it and adding the same amount to the fund.

 

The government has decided to confer the Prime Minister National Talent Award-2025 to a talented citizen for their outstanding contribution in the fields of peace, good governance, innovation, scientific discovery, and research and development.

 

From this fund, it was decided to give a prize of Rs 500 thousand to two talents every year. For the first time in 2019, three awards were given in two categories. However, the awards were not provided after 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

 

The prize was announced at the main ceremony held at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel, on the occasion of National Democracy Day on Wednesday. Dr. Chhiring Lama (Sindhupalchok) is to be awarded in the field of telemedicine, while Dr. Biraj Singh Thapa (Morang) is to be awarded in the field of science and technology innovation, Purnima Shrestha (Gorkha) is to be awarded in the field of mountaineering, and Aabhash Maskey (Kathmandu) and Hariram Shrestha (Gorkha) are to be awarded in the field of science and technology.

 

Similarly, Dr. Om Murti Anil (Mahottari) is to be awarded for medicine, Sabitra Bhandari (Lamjung) for sports, Rabindra Puri (Bhaktapur) for heritage conservation, and Dil Shova Shrestha (Kathmandu) and Ramji Adhikari (Gorkha) for human service and social service. The awards will be presented by organizing a special ceremony soon.

 

The decision to establish the award was taken by the Cabinet meeting held on December 3, 2018, for the purpose of encouraging talented citizens in the innovation sector. —RSS
