Community health unit set up in the remote village of Dailekh
Dailekh, Feb 18: Gorti village, a geographically difficult and distant place in Dailekh district, has a health facility.
A basic community health unit has been established at Gorti of Mahabu rural municipality-5. The chairman of the rural municipality, Janga Bahadur Shahi, informed that the local level had launched an initiative to set up health units.
Five wards of the rural municipality have already gotten the health units. “Our local level is a geographically difficult and distant place. It is the major cause to deprive people of essential health services,” he said, adding that health facilities would now accommodate the needy ones.
Although there are four health posts at wards and a hospital in Mahabu rural municipality, the people from remote areas were still facing utmost difficulty in receiving health services, according to him. It takes hours for the people from Gorti to reach nearby health facilities.
Shahi further informed that they were planning to develop Mahabu as an agricultural hub. Planned development was initiated at the local level so that citizens would enjoy the facilities of electricity, roads, education, health, and agricultural markets.
Similarly, the chairman of ward no. 5 of Mahabu rural municipality, Deep Bahadur Shahi, informed that the community health unit was established, considering the need for timely treatment of women facing emergencies. Once the emergency health service is in place, it saves women’s lives, he added. —RSS
