10 teams including three foreign teams competing for 2nd edition of Bhadrapur-Jhapa Goldcup title
Bhadrapur (Jhapa), Feb 17: Altogether 10 teams from four countries including Nepal are contesting in the 2nd edition of the Bhadrapur Jhapa Goldcup football tournament.
The tournament is taking place at Mechi Stadium in Chandragadhi from February 19 to 28. At a press meet organized here today, the Chairperson of the tournament organizing committee, Deepesh Dhakal, shared that both temporary and permanent parapets have been built at the stadium to accommodate as many as 20,000 spectators.
The teams participating in the tournament are Bhadrapur Blazers, A Division Clubs—Church Boys United, Machhindra Football Club, Nepal Police Club, New Road Team, Armed Police Force’s APF FC, and Jhapa 11 from Nepal.
Also, foreign teams vying in the competition are Darjeeling Police FC from India, Transport United FC from Bhutan, and Crown Bazar Pragati Sangh from Bangladesh. The title award carries a purse of Rs 1.3 million, while the runner-up team will receive Rs 700,000 each, the organizers said.
Individual awards, with a cash prize of Rs 25,000 each, will be given to the highest scorers, best goalkeeper, promising player, and best coach, while a player winning the title of the ‘best player’ will take home Rs 100,000. Additionally, players delivering the best in each game will be awarded Rs 21,000.
The tournament is expected to cost Rs 17.8 million, according to organizers. —RSS
