Thapa, Mukarung and Basnet honored with Narayan Gopal Memorial Award
Kathmandu: Narayan Gopal Music Trust has honored Lyricist Shiva Shankar Thapa, Musician Bulu Mukarung and Singer Kumar Basnet with this year’s Narayan Gopal Memorial Award.
On the occasion of the 34th Memorial Day of Swar Samrat Narayan Gopal today, the Trust honored each of the artists with 51 thousand rupees and certificates.
The Trust also honored the founders of the Narayan Gopal Music Trust Nagendra Thapa, Dr Biswambhar Pyakurel, and Kali Prasad Rijal. Santosh Sharma, Nir Shah, Basanta Chaudhary and Sambhujeet Baskota with Letter of Appreciation.
Addressing the program, Radio Nepal’s Executive Director Amar Dhoj Lama said Narayan Gopal’s song gives motivation to make life dynamic and fight every situation.
Musician Bulu Mukarung said the creations of the Narayan Gopal are like the universities for new artists and aspirants of the music sector and highlighted the need for the nation’s attention must be centred on preserving and promoting the masterpieces.

Speakers including, musician Sambhujit Baskota, revere Narayan Gopal’s little brother Laxman Gopal Guruwacharya, Narayan Gopal Music Trust’s Chairperson Deepak KC, said the Narayan Gopal’s music and songs are ever-green as it is a blending of pain, sadness, love and excitement.
