Vice President Yadav and Finnish Ambassador Heikka discuss bilateral ties

November 20, Kathmandu: The Finnish Ambassador to Nepal, Riina-Riikka Heikka paid a courtesy call on Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav on Wednesday.

During the meeting held at the Vice President’s office in Lainchaur, the two discussed bilateral relations, development cooperation, investment, trade, tourism, and other issues.

Vice President Yadav expressed satisfaction with the strong bilateral ties between Nepal and Finland, established in 1974. He highlighted the importance of high-level visits, people-to-people exchanges, and economic cooperation in strengthening the relationship.

He also thanked Finland for its support in Nepal’s development efforts, particularly in areas such as poverty alleviation, environmental sustainability, and disaster risk reduction. Vice President Yadav emphasized the need for continued cooperation to achieve Nepal’s goal of graduating from a least developed country status by 2026.

Ambassador Heikka acknowledged the positive developments in Nepal-Finland relations and expressed her country’s commitment to further strengthening the partnership. She also extended her congratulations to the Nepali government and people on the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations which will be marked during a ceremony on November 27th along with the Finnish Independence Day.
