Number of people falling sick after consuming prasad reaches 35

Arghakhanchi, Oct 29: The number of people falling sick after consuming prasad in a ritual has reached 35 at Sandhikharka in the district.

A local from Sandhikharka municipality-1 in the district, Dipak KC, organized a deurali puja and served meat as prasad to the invitees. The prasad ultimately caused sickness, according to the police. Chief of the District Police Office in Arghakhanchi, DSP Chakra Bahadur Budha, informed that seven more people who attended the ceremony became sick and went for treatment at the district-based hospital this morning.

With this, the number of sick ones reached 35. The superintendent at the hospital, Dr Jagannath Tiwari, informed that those visiting hospitals were suffering from diarrhoea, vomiting, fever, and body aches. They are, however normal, out of risk now.

Dr. Tiwari said it was a case of food position. Currently, 34 of them are receiving treatment at Arghakhanchi District Hospital, while one is at Arghakhanchi Hospital. Investigation into the incident is underway, the police added. —RSS
