Parliamentarians stress need for child-inclusive law

Kathmandu: Parliamentarians discussed the importance of creating laws related to children with their active participation today.

In a meeting of the Legislative Management Committee of the National Assembly, parliamentarians emphasized that local governments should develop and implement their policies to protect and promote the welfare of children.

Despite the constitution guaranteeing children’s rights to education and health, issues of street children, and child labor persist.

They highlighted the need for children to be involved in policymaking related to their issues.

The committee also reviewed its annual report during the meeting.

Committee President Jayanti Devi Rai announced that discussions on the pending Media Council Bill will proceed in coordination with the government.
