Milan Pariyar wins nationwide open modern song competition

Kathmandu, March 31: Radio Nepal today organized a nationwide open modern song competition at its central office premises in Singh Durbar on the occasion of its 74th establishment day.
Milan Pariyar, from Morang, won the competition under the singing category.

Similarly, Mohattari’s Sameer Pariyar and Morang’s Lekharaj Dhakal were the first runner-up and second runner-up in the singing competition respectively.

Likewise, Illam’s Dawa Tamang became the best lyricist while Jyoti Prakash of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) stood first in the category of Music Composition.
According to Radio Nepal’s Music Department Head Manaraj Nakarmi, Chitwan’s Bishal Shrestha, Lalitpur’s Sambhav Thapa, Saptari’s Madhu Century, Tanahun’s Punam Gurung, and Syangja’s Dinesh Subedi became the top five artists among the total participated singers.
Meanwhile, inaugurating the ceremony on the premises of Radio Nepal, the Secretary at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Radio Nepal, Ram Krishna Subedi said Radio Nepal has played a crucial role in the conservation, promotion and expansion of the Nepali music.
Similarly, Executive Director of Radio Nepal, Buddhi Bahadur K.C. said Radio Nepal has been recording the songs and music of all the national languages, conducting voice tests, fixing rankings, and digitalizing songs and audio materials.
Moreover, Deputy Executive Director Khagendra Khatri said Radio Nepal is acting as a bridge between Nepali music and artists.
A panel of judges in the ceremony comprised senior singer and musician Muralidhar, lyricist and people’s singer Maila Lama and singer Lochan Bhattarai.
Twenty-one selected contestants from across the country participated in the competition. Altogether 48 aspirants had applied for the modern song competition. Radio Nepal has been organizing classical music conference and nationwide modern song competitions on the occasion of its anniversary.
Radio Nepal is marking its 74th anniversary coming Tuesday, the 2nd of April.
