Pokhara Street Festival: Silver Jubilee Celebration to welcome New Year

November 27, Kathmandu: The annual Pokhara Street Festival, a vibrant celebration held at Lakeside, Pokhara, is set to mark its silver jubilee this year. The festival, organized by the Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal (REBAN), Pokhara, serves as a grand welcome to the New Year as per the Gregorian calendar.
Bishwo Raj Poudel, Acting Chairperson of REBAN Pokhara, revealed that preparations are underway to commemorate the festival’s silver jubilee. The event, spanning three kilometres of Lakeside, aims to establish Pokhara as a prime destination for domestic and foreign tourists during the New Year as per the Gregorian calendar.
This year’s festival, expected to attract around 500,000 visitors, will be held from December 28, 2023, to January 1, 2024.
It promises an enhanced experience with a rich cultural program, an exhibition of national and international foods, traditional costumes, a boat race, a volleyball competition, and a concert.
An interactive session on ‘Pokhara’s tourism development, promotion, opportunities, and challenges’ will also be a key feature of the festival. The event encapsulates the spirit of ‘Eat in the streets, Enjoy in the streets’.
