President Paudel insists on building sustainable infrastructure

November 22, Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Paudel has underscored the pivotal role of construction professionals in fostering a sustainable economy.

Addressing the 46th International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors’ Associations (IFAWPCA) Summit in Kathmandu on Wednesday, he emphasized the significance of physical infrastructure in the economic development of any nation. He urged construction professionals to adopt special measures to combat the increasing natural calamities triggered by climate change.

President Paudel called on the IFAWPCA-affiliated countries facing different adversities due to climate change to prioritize the climate change agenda and build eco-friendly sustainable infrastructure.

He recalled the recent visit of the United Nations Secretary-General to Nepal, who placed high importance on the climate change agenda.

The President said the Secretary-General António Guterres during his Nepal visit had urged everyone to reduce carbon emissions and construct infrastructure that is in tune with nature.
