Changra worth over 230 million Rupees exported from Mustang this Dashain

October 23, Kathmandu: Changra, the Himalayan goat, worth over 2hundred 30 million Rupees has been exported to various districts from Mustang district for Dashain festival.

The Himalayan goats have been exported to various districts including Myagdi, Kaski, Parbat, Baglung and Kathmandu according to the Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Service Expert Centre Mustang.

At least 5,755 Changra were exported for the festival this year, said the Centre’s chief Rishiram Pokharel. “A health certificate has been issued for the export of 5,755 Changra through the Jomsom border. Changra worth over Rs 230 million have been exported,” he said.

Of the exported Changra, 4,000 were reared by farmers of Mustang and the rest were brought from Dolpa and Mugu, he said. The Himalayan goat export took place from October 7 to 18.

There is a provision that animals can be transported from one district to another only after a health check. Rs 15 is paid for the health test of a Changra.

Traders reached the barns to buy Changra. Each Changra fetched around Rs. 40,000.

According to the Centre, last year, 6,600 Changra were exported from Mustang, 12,000 Changra in 2078 BS, and around 25,000 in 2076 BS.
