Full election results for Nepali Congress 15th General Convention expected tonight

KATHMANDU — Final vote counting for the newly elected Central Working Committee of the Nepali Congress under its 15th General Convention is underway at the party headquarters in Sanepa, with complete results scheduled for release by tonight.

Member Secretary of the Election Committee Raju Katuwal confirmed that tallying across all remaining categories is progressing rapidly. While key executive positions—including Party President, Vice Presidents, General Secretaries, and Joint General Secretaries—have already been finalized, counting continues for the Open and inclusive Central Member seats.

In the presidential race, Gagan Kumar Thapa secured a decisive victory with 6,584 votes out of 7,013 cast, defeating competitor Shyam Krishna Khadgi, who received 375 votes.

Chandra Kanta Bhandari, Madhu Acharya, and Binod Kumar Chaudhary have been elected Vice Presidents, while Pradeep Paudel, Udaya Shumsher Rana, and Dila Sangroula secured the General Secretary positions. Ajay Babu Sivakoti and Ram Hari Khatiwada won the Open Joint General Secretary seats.

The Election Committee noted that counting for 45 Open Central Member positions and various cluster-wise seats has taken longer due to the high volume of candidates and ballots. The full leadership structure of the party’s central body will be finalized upon conclusion of tonight’s tally.
