Two high-capacity hydropower projects resume power generation

Lamjung: Two high-capacity hydropower projects of Lamjung district, which were closed from Sunday morning following increase in water-level at Marsyangdi river, have come into operation.

The 70-MW Madhya Marsyangdi and 50-MW Upper Marsyandi ‘A’ hydropower Projects have come into operation again from Monday.

The Madhya Marsyangdi hydropower project was completely closed from Sunday morning after risk surfaced following increase in water-level and water flow in the river. Project Chief Tara Dutta Bhattarai shared that all the water from the project was completely discharged into the river by stopping power production, adding power generation has resumed from today afternoon following normal flow of the river.

Similarly, the power production of the 50-MW Upper Marsyangdi ‘A’ hydropower project located at Marsyangdi rural municipality-8 has resumed from today morning.

Project Engineer Karna Adhikari said power production has resumed after completing necessary technical works, cleanliness and other management.
