Ministry of Health calls for High Alert

Kathmandu, Sept 24: The Ministry of Health and Food Safety has urged the health sector to maintain a state of high alert, citing the potential for disasters such as floods, landslides, and inundation resulting from heavy to very heavy rainfall that has been forecast for the next few days.

Taking into account the forecast by the Nepal Meteorological Department under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forest and Environment, the Health Ministry has requested provincial ministries of health and social development, the Department of Health Services, health science academies, and federal hospitals to make necessary arrangements for mitigating potential risks and ensuring an effective response.

The Ministry has directed health workers to remain reachable as needed, even on public holidays, and to make preparations for immediate mobilization in the event of a disaster.

Additionally, the Ministry has urged that Provincial Health Emergency Operation Centers remain operational around the clock. RSS
