Asian Games: Nepal enters women’s kabaddi semifinals

Kathmandu: Nepal has entered the semifinals of the women’s kabaddi competition at the ongoing 20th Asian Games in Japan after defeating Sri Lanka 34-25.

Nepal led 19-13 at half-time and secured a medal with the win. Nepal had previously won bronze at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Nepal had earlier defeated Thailand but lost to Chinese Taipei in Group B. Chinese Taipei has also advanced to the semifinals.

In men’s kabaddi, Nepal beat Malaysia 73-52 in their final group-stage match. Nepal led 37-21 at half-time. The win came as a consolation after Nepal’s three successive defeats had already knocked the men’s team out of the tournament.
