Weather Update: Heavy Rainfall Likely in Hilly Areas

Kathmandu, Sept. 21: Nepal is currently under the influence of monsoon winds, with a partial impact of westerly winds. The monsoon trough is lying south of its usual position, while a low-pressure system has developed over the North Andaman Sea.

The system is expected to strengthen and move west-northwest in the coming days.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division says cloudy weather will prevail in most Himalayan and hilly areas, as well as Madhesh Province and parts of the Terai.

Moderate rain and thunderstorms are likely in several areas, with snowfall possible in the higher Himalayan regions.

Heavy rainfall is expected in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.

The Division has urged people in vulnerable areas to remain alert to possible weather-related hazards.
