Environment Diplomacy Section established at Foreign Affairs Ministry to strengthen Nepal’s climate diplomacy
Kathmandu: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established an Environment Diplomacy Section for the first time to institutionalise and strengthen Nepal’s diplomatic efforts on climate change and environmental issues.
Based on the Organization and Management Survey, the section comes under the division looking after the UN and specialized agencies.
The new section will coordinate Nepal’s climate and environmental diplomacy at international forums and work with relevant national agencies.
Foreign Affairs Minister Shishir Khanal said climate diplomacy should be treated as a long-term institutional priority rather than being limited to participation in international conferences and programmes.
