Digital transformation must ensure resilient communication systems during disasters: Minister Dr Timilsina

Lalitpur: Minister for Information and Communication Dr Bikram Timilsina has said digital transformation is not limited to technology and modernising government services, but is also a project of governance, development and nation-building.

Addressing the Digital Nepal Conclave 2026 organised by ICT Foundation Nepal in Lalitpur today, Communication Minister Timilsina said Nepal needs to build a sustainable and resilient digital system that can ensure uninterrupted information and communication services during disasters and crises.

He said the recent floods had tested the country’s information systems, communication networks, institutional coordination and disaster preparedness.

Communication Minister Timilsina said the experience has shown the need to strengthen information and communication systems alongside physical infrastructure as a national priority.
