Korean envoy pays courtesy call on Minister Dr Timilsina

Kathmandu, Sept 18: Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, Park Jae Kyung, has paid a courtesy call on Minister for Information and Communications, Dr Bikram Timilsina, today.

During the meeting held at Minister Dr Timilsina’s office in Singha Durbar, they discussed the issues including Nepal-Korea relations, rescue, rehabilitation of the people affected from Bhotekoshi flood and assistance as well as collaboration in the areas of information technology, digital economy and artificial intelligence.

On the occasion, Communications Minister Dr Timilsina thanked for the support and sympathy received from Korea to Nepal during the difficult time surfaced from Bhotekoshi flood.

Extending gratitude towards Korea for mobilizing disaster management team in search and rescue operation, he thanked for Korean government’s commitment for support to flood-affected people as well as reconstruction and rehabilitation task.

He stressed the need of further expanding Nepal-Korea friendship based on mutual respect, understanding and cooperation in coming days. 

Similarly, Ambassador Park opined that the support of Korea would be continued for rescue and rehabilitation at flood hit areas.

He also enquired about the condition of Korean citizens missing in Bhotekoshi flood. The Korean Ambassador mentioned that a team of Korean security personnel had rescued 10 Korean citizens from Bhotekoshi flood while nine Korean citizens are still out of contact.

He informed the Communications Minister about participation of Nepal and other countries in ’12th Global ICT Leadership Forum’ scheduled in South Korea from September 30.

A high-level discussion about cooperation in the areas of information technology and artificial intelligence and next strategy between representatives of different countries would be held in the forum to be organised by the Ministry of Science and Information Technology of South Korea in coordination with National Information Society Agency.
