Saudi Ambassador Munaikhir calls on Vice President Yadav

KATHMANDU, Sept. 18: Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Nepal, Fahad Mohammad A. Munaikhir, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav at the Vice President’s Office in Lainchaur on Friday.

The two officials discussed bilateral relations, Nepali migrant workers, economic cooperation, and the recent disastrous flooding along the Bhote Koshi River in Nepal.

During the meeting, Vice President Yadav highlighted the friendly relations established between Nepal and Saudi Arabia since March 1977, emphasizing the need to expand bilateral ties as both nations prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in March 2027.

The Vice President noted that Saudi Arabia remains a major destination for Nepali migrant workers and commended the Saudi government’s economic support through the Saudi Fund for Development in hydropower, transport, and irrigation projects.

He encouraged further Saudi investment in infrastructure, information technology, energy, tourism, mining, and agriculture.

VP Yadav also welcomed the Bilateral Air Services Agreement signed between Nepal and Saudi Arabia on Aug. 31, 2026, noting its potential to boost tourism, trade, and investment.

Additionally, he expressed gratitude for Saudi support for Nepali Muslims embarking on Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages, as well as for Saudi Arabia’s measures ensuring the safety of Nepali citizens in West Asia.

Ambassador Munaikhir expressed deep condolences over the loss of life and property caused by the recent flooding in Nepal and reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting Nepal across various sectors during its recovery.

VP Yadav also extended greetings on Saudi Arabia’s 96th National Day to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Wishing peace, progress, and prosperity for the Saudi people.
