Drinking water supply projects in Rasuwa suffer damage over Rs 250 Million

Kathmandu: A total of 13 drinking water supply and sanitation projects operating in various parts of Rasuwa have suffered total or partial damage due to the devastating floods on Bhote Koshi River last August 27.

According to the Department of Drinking Water Supply and Sewerage Management, the flood caused damage worth at least Rs 252.5 million to these 13 projects. A total of 1,623 citizens have been directly affected in terms of access to safe drinking water.

Department Director General Kamal Raj Shrestha stated that the flood caused significant damage, particularly to water supply projects in Gosaikunda and Uttargaya Rural Municipalities.

While most projects were destroyed, the flood washed away main lines, auxiliary pipelines, and water taps of some other projects.

Director General Shrestha stated that the necessary processes for reconstructing the flood-damaged projects and restoring water supply services would be initiated.
