Bhotekoshi floods: 278 of 341 injured return home

Kathmandu: Out of 341 people admitted at 19 different hospitals after suffering injuries and other complications due to the Bhotekoshi flash floods, 278 have returned home after treatment.

As per the report issued by Health Emergency and Disaster Management Unit under the Ministry of Health and Food Safety on Monday, 27 people who sustained injuries and fell ill are undergoing treatment at different hospitals, while four persons died in course of treatment.

Similarly, the Health Ministry has intensified immunization campaign against cholera to prevent spread of epidemics in flood-hit areas. Out of 71,635 targeted population in Nuwakot, 28,099 people (39.22 per cent) have been vaccinated.

Likewise, of the 31,474 targeted people in Rasuwa, 9,731 (30.91 per cent) have been vaccinated. In last 24 hours, one case of severe diarrhea has been confirmed. A total of 2,895 people have now been taking shelter at 36 holding centres in four districts.

Another 1,701 people have been taking shelter in 23 holding centres in Nuwakot, 585 in three holding centres in Kathmandu, 390 in four holding centres in Dhading and 219 in six holding centres in Rasuwa.

In addition, 149 health workers in 34 teams have been deputed in flood-hit areas while 7,707 people received services through emergency medical teams so far.

The government has introduced 1166 free helpline for psychological counseling for flood-hit citizens and 1155 for safe motherhood counseling.
