Araniko Transport Company reports 29 employees unaccounted for since Bhotekoshi floods

Kathmandu: Twenty-nine employees of Nepal Araniko Transport Service Pvt are still missing since the devastating Bhotekoshi floods.

Bikas Lama, chief of the company’s central office, reported that 18 buses owned by the company were also lost in the disaster.

There were passengers onboard. Lama mentioned that search operations are currently going on. Out of the 33 workers initially reported missing, three have managed to establish contact, while the dead body of another one recovered from the flood-affected area.

The company is still trying to confirm the number of foreign and domestic passengers (tourists) to whom it managed travel.

In the meantime, chair of the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs, Punya Prasad Sitaula, stated that efforts were on to locate and rescue the missing individuals and vehicles impacted by the floods.

He also called on the government to assist with insurance claims and the recovery of the vehicles lost in the floods and the subsequent landslides.
