President Paudel worships at Krishna Temple in Patan

Lalitpur: President Ramchandra Paudel visited Krishna Temple in Patan and conducted puja on the occasion of Krishna Janmastami today.

The Head of State reached the temple along with his spouse, worshipped Lord Krishna and received flowers and prasad from the priest.

President Paudel and his spouse were received by mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Chiribabu Maharjan, chief of Lalitpur District Coordination Committee, Rishi Dev Phunyal, and chief district officer Narahari Ghimire, among others. After visiting the temple, the President inspected the nearby Mangahiti. Krishna Janmastami is the birthday of Lord Krishna.

The day is observed on the eight day of dark fortnight of Bhadra month every year.

In addition to this temple, other shrines of Lord Krishna across the country are visited by the Hindu devotes and followers of Lord Krishna. Peace, prosperity, happiness and family wellbeing are wished by praying the Lord Krishna on this occasion.

Krishna Janmastami is not only a religious festival but also an occasion to foster Nepali art, culture, traditional and social harmony. As per Hindu religion, Lord Krishna was born on the eighth day of waning fortnight in Bhadra month of Dwapar era.

The Krishna Temple was built by King Siddhi Narsing Malla in 17th century. There is a special celebration graced by the King on this day since the Malla era.

However, with the establishment of Republic in Nepal, President, as the Head of state, is visiting the temple on this occasion every year.
