Disaster Management Fund to get Rs 1 billion

Kathmandu: A decision has been taken to deposit Rs 1 billion in the Disaster Management Fund for relief, rescue and disaster management of the areas affected by August 26 Bhotekoshi flash flood.

A meeting of Fund Operation Committee formed in accordance with Natural Disaster Rescue Fund Regulation, 2063, held on Tuesday decided to provide Rs 1 billion from the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Rescue Fund.

The meeting held under coordination of Vice-Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, Dr Gunakar Bhatta, took the decision to provide the amount for operation of various activities– relief and rescue at flood-hit area.

Secretaries of the Home Ministry, Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration, Ministry of Health and Food Safety, Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Environment, Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers were present in the meeting.
