Government’s commitment to collaborate with NRNA and international community

Kathmandu: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, has expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) during difficult times faced by the country and said that the government is committed to collaborating with NRNA and the international community in all phases of relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction.

In a meeting with a delegation including Chair of the NRNA International Coordination Council, Dr Hemraj Sharma, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, Minister Khanal said that the initiative of the NRNA to integrate the Nepali community abroad and mobilize it for disaster management and reconstruction is welcome.

He expressed the commitment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continuously coordinate, collaborate and facilitate with the NRNA for this.

Minister Khanal said that the NRNA can distribute relief in coordination with the local government and concerned bodies and should provide the government with necessary details before and after the distribution of relief aid.

On the occasion, the NRNA International Coordination Council handed over Rs 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund. The NRNA had announced that it would provide Rs 50 million for relief and humanitarian assistance to citizens affected by the disaster in Nepal.
