Pokhara, Aug 28: A total of 102 bodies recovered from the banks of the Trishuli and Narayani rivers have been brought to Pokhara for forensic examination and identification following the Bhotekoshi flash flood.

According to Kaski Assistant Chief District Officer Chitrangad Baral, the bodies were recovered from Dhading, Gorkha, Tanahun and Nawalparasi East by security personnel and local residents. They were transported to Kaski after the respective districts faced difficulties in managing and identifying the large number of bodies.

Baral said 41 bodies from Nawalparasi East, 23 from Tanahun, 11 from Gorkha and 27 from Dhading were brought to the Western Regional Hospital in Pokhara on Thursday night.

He added that nine bodies recovered from different locations in Tanahun were later sent to Manipal Teaching Hospital after undergoing tests at the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences.

Authorities are continuing forensic examinations and identification efforts to establish the identities of the deceased and facilitate their handover to their families.
