Monsoon Continues to Affect Weather Across Nepal; Heavy Rain Forecast
Kathmandu, Aug 17: Monsoon activity remains active across Nepal, with a low-pressure system influencing weather conditions in several parts of the country, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.
Heavy rainfall has been recorded in parts of western Nepal, particularly Baitadi, Kanchanpur, Kailali and Bardiya. Excessive rainfall has also been reported in Syangja and Nawalpur.
The weather agency has forecast moderate rain with thunder and lightning in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as some areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.
Similar weather conditions are expected in the Terai areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Sudurpashchim and Madhes provinces.
Heavy rainfall is likely in the hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, while the Terai region of Lumbini has also been placed under a heavy rainfall alert.
For tonight, rain and snowfall are possible in the Himalayan and hilly regions, while several Terai areas are expected to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Authorities have urged people in vulnerable areas to remain alert as heavy rainfall may increase the risk of flooding, landslides and other weather-related incidents.
