1,793 persons with disabilities documented in Tehrathum

Tehrathum: The Karuna Foundation has documented 1,793 persons with disabilities in Tehrathum to help improve their access to health services, education and social rehabilitation.

The Foundation has provided identity cards to persons with disabilities and orientation to female community health volunteers.

It has also provided mental health counselling and short-term, skill-based training to people with disabilities.

The programmes have been implemented across all six local levels of the district.

According to programme coordinator Kedar Bhandari, around 17 million rupees has been spent on the rehabilitation initiatives.

The programmes were conducted in fiscal year 2081/82 in coordination with the provincial government and the Karuna Foundation.
