Weather Forecast: Hotter Days in Terai, Rain Likely in Hilly Regions

Kathmandu, May 27: Hot and humid conditions are expected to persist in the Terai, while the hilly and mountainous regions are likely to see partly cloudy skies with chances of rainfall, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

The Division said this afternoon’s weather will remain partly cloudy in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. The Terai belt, however, is expected to remain mostly fair with rising temperatures.

Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is likely at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Similar conditions may occur in parts of Lumbini Province, while isolated instances of light rain or snowfall are possible at higher elevations in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The Terai areas of Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces are likely to experience hotter days, while some locations in the Terai belts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Madhesh provinces may witness thunderstorms and strong winds.

The Division stated that the country is currently under the influence of westerly and local winds, along with a low-pressure system near the eastern region.

The weather system had earlier triggered rainfall and strong winds across several parts of the country, including Kathmandu, on Tuesday.
