NC Accepts Upcoming Polls as Test of People’s Mandate: Spokesperson Chalise

Patan (Lalitpur), Feb 22:

Spokesperson of the Nepali Congress, Devraj Chalise, has said the party has taken the upcoming elections as a decisive test of the people’s mandate and is committed to ensuring good governance.

Speaking at a press conference held at the party’s central office in Sanepa on Sunday, Chalise stated that the NC has acknowledged past shortcomings where its performance may not have fully met public expectations. He emphasized that the legitimacy of governance stems from the sovereign will of the people, which is expressed through elections.

Chalise also called on the media to offer constructive and critical analysis, describing the press as a vital pillar of democracy. He reaffirmed the party’s longstanding commitment to safeguarding press freedom and freedom of expression.

Stressing the importance of credible polls, the NC spokesperson said the government’s top priority is to conduct the election in a free and fair environment. He urged all stakeholders to refrain from activities that could undermine social harmony and religious tolerance.
