RSP President Lamichhane meets Indian PM Modi in New Delhi

Kathmandu: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, who is on a visit to India, met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today.

After the meeting, Indian Prime Minister Modi expressed happiness over the meeting in a social media post and said he would work closely with Lamichhane for a “common prosperous future.” He also welcomed and supported his aspirations.

Modi said Nepal is a key partner under India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy and expressed commitment to further strengthening the special and multifaceted relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, discussions were held on Nepal-India relations, mutual interests, and cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and other officials.

From the Nepali side, Lamichhane was accompanied by his spouse Nikita Poudel, RSP leaders Bipin Acharya and Dipak Bohara, and officials from the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi.

Lamichhane left for New Delhi on Monday for a five-day visit at the invitation of BJP leader Nitin Naveen. Earlier, he also met India’s Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister Jaishankar during the visit.
