Three Killed as Jeep Falls into Tila River in Kalikot

Manma, Kalikot, Jan 17: Three people lost their lives in a jeep accident in Shubhakalika Rural Municipality-4, Salleri, Kalikot, on Friday evening. The incident occurred around 6:00 pm when the jeep (Bhe 1 Ja 2898), traveling to Salleri on the Seri Pantadi road, went in reverse and fell into the riverbank.

Kalikot Police Chief Him Bahadur Khatri identified the deceased as 28-year-old Shankar Kathayat from Dailekh, Tekendra Shahi from Achham, and co-driver Navaraj Shahi from Shubhakalika-2, Kalikot. All three were involved in road construction work on the Seri Pantadi road.

The victims’ bodies were retrieved from the cliff, and preparations are underway to transport them to the district headquarters for post-mortem. The jeep was found broken about 500 meters below the road on the bank of the Tila River. The driver has contacted the police but is yet to be interrogated. A team including Chief District Officer Gorkanraj Suyal, Police Chief Khatri, district police, and armed police had rushed to the accident site following the news.
