British Rapper Pleads Guilty in Death of Nepali Youth Yubin Tamang

London, Dec 9 – British rapper Justin Clarke-Samuel has pleaded guilty in connection with the death of 20-year-old Nepali youth Yubin Tamang, the London Metropolitan Police confirmed.

According to the police, Clarke-Samuel hit Yubin with his car on Redbridge Lane East in Ilford at around 11:33 pm on October 18 while driving at more than 60 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone. Yubin was crossing the road at the time of the accident. Clarke-Samuel failed to stop after the collision. Yubin succumbed to his injuries two days later in hospital.

Detective Inspector Mark Braithwaite of the Metropolitan Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said the guilty pleas mark a step toward justice for the bereaved family. He added that reckless driving continues to cause tragic and irreversible losses.

Police traced the vehicle through CCTV footage, which identified Clarke-Samuel as the registered owner. His damaged BMW was found near his residence early the following morning with a smashed windscreen and severe front-end damage.

Clarke-Samuel was arrested on October 19 on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, and driving under the influence. After Yubin’s death, the charges were upgraded. He was later further charged with causing death by careless driving while over the alcohol limit.

The court has scheduled sentencing for February 12.
