On Air Station:

Statute convention likely to propose end of certain age bar limit for UML leadership

Kathmandu, July 13: The CPN (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel has said that the proposal to end the provision of a 70-year age bar in the party would be tabled in the upcoming statute convention.

The statute convention of the UML is taking place from September 5-7 in Lalitpur. Addressing a meeting of the party’s central departments at the party central office on Sunday, Pokhrel said the decision to postpone the provision of a 70-year age bar from the party central committee meeting would be taken to the statute convention, adding that it was the duty and responsibility of the central committee.

The UML General Secretary said this against the remarks being made by UML leaders on some of the provisions of the party statute. The central committee meeting of the party held at Sauraha of Chitwan in November 2021 had proposed to amend some of the provisions of the party statute, Pokhrel mentioned.

On a separate note, the UML leader shared that legal and structural reforms have been made after the formation of this government with the alliance of the Nepali Congress and UML.
