Health insurance programme will be reviewed: PM Oli

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government would review the government health insurance programme.

During his address to a function organised on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) here today, the Prime Minister said that in some cases, the insurance facility was found to be misused. It will be reviewed to ensure that it fulfils its intended purpose and benefits the people meaningfully, according to him.

The Prime Minister also urged TUTH to intensify its efforts in supporting the government’s “Nirogi Nepal” (Healthy Nepal) campaign and in delivering quality healthcare services to those in need. He stressed that the hospital should continue to play a leading role in the production of skilled human resources and in improving the quality of healthcare delivery.

People’s trust in doctors, nurses, and hospitals increases when they fall ill. They come to hospitals with the hope of receiving proper care and recovering. It is your responsibility to honour that trust,’ he told the healthcare professionals on the occasion.

He said that nurses are provided with special roles and responsibilities in patient care and recovery, recognising their indispensable contribution to the healthcare system.

On the occasion, Meen Bahadur Gurung, Managing Director of Bhatbhateni Super Market, who financially assisted with the construction of the TUTH Extended Service Building, which was also inaugurated today, was honoured.
