PM Oli urges Spanish businesspersons to invest in Nepal

Madrid, July 2: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on Spanish businesspersons to invest in Nepal.

Addressing a discussion program among the businesspersons from Nepal and Spain here as a keynote speaker on Wednesday, PM Oli said the Nepal government had been encouraging investors because Nepal had set the national ambition of ‘prosperous Nepal and happy Nepali’.

The event was organized jointly by the Nepali Embassy in Spain and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce. The discussion has given the energy to expand the business partnership in a meaningful way between the two countries, PM Oli said, saying that Nepal is a country of peace, bearing significant cultural history and natural specificity.

Nepal has adequate opportunities for investments, he reiterated. “The private sector is an engine of economic growth. I shared with the Spanish businesspersons, also as the Chair of the Investment Board of Nepal, that the Board ensures all aspects, ranging from security to facilitation for investment. Tourism, agriculture, IT and infrastructure are areas of huge investment potential,” PM Oli said.

He further said he not only regards them as investors but also as development partners. “I’m happy to see your encouraging responses,” Oli observed. On the occasion, FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal also said there is huge potential for investments in tourism, agriculture and information technology in Nepal.
