Nepal draws global attention to country’s journey to prosperity

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli returned home today concluding his official visit to Spain.

Prime Minister Oli was welcomed at the VIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) by Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, and various high-ranking officials.

On that occasion, a contingent of the Nepali Army presented a guard of honor to Prime Minister Oli.

At a press conference organized after the welcome at TIA, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amrit Bahadur Rai, who participated in the conference on behalf of the Nepali delegation, said that Nepal’s participation in the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development has succeeded in drawing the attention of various countries to Nepal’s journey to prosperity.

Foreign Secretary Rai said that the visit was extremely important for the country’s interests and welfare. He added that the Prime Minister had put forward ideas during the conference for the implementation of investment commitments made by developed countries for poor and small countries.

During the visit, Prime Minister Oli met with various heads of state and said that it would further strengthen Nepal’s foreign relations and also contribute to attracting tourists from European countries to Nepal.

Foreign Secretary Rai also said that during his stay in Spain, Prime Minister Oli met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and a bilateral meeting was held with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

During the visit, Prime Minister Oli addressed the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, and chaired a high-level meeting of the least developed countries(LDCs).

The head of the government met with Estonian President Alar Karis, Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Kamal Madbouly, and Portuguese Prime Minister Lui Montenegro.

Similarly, Prime Minister Oli participated in various plenary sessions and  other side line events.

The Prime Minister Prime also held discussions with the Nepali community in Spain and urged them to join Nepal’s journey of prosperity.

Leading a 21-member Nepali delegation, Prime Minister Oli had left for Spain last Saturday to attend the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development of the United Nations.
