Progress of Sunkoshi Marin Diversion Project dismal : parliamentary committee

 

Kathmandu, June 25: The Infrastructure Development Committee under the House of Representatives (HoR) has concluded that the progress of the national pride Sunkoshi Marin Diversion Project is not satisfactory.

Today’s meeting of the Committee decided to make a comprehensive study of the concerned documents of the project, as its progress details up to now are not satisfactory. Committee President, Deepak Bahadur Singh, informed that the meeting has decided to hold further discussion related to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.

“Project progress has appeared to be only one percent. Reasons behind the dismal progress were discussed in the meeting”, he shared, adding, “The meeting decided to obtain further information from the line minister and demand related additional documents of the project”.

The meeting also directed the government not to delay in appointing the project chiefs in national pride projects. It came to light that the project chief was not appointed for the diversion project for nine months. The Raman Construction JV Petal Company is the contractor company for the project.
