National Assembly members raise key issues, urge government action
Kathmandu: Members of the National Assembly have drawn the government’s attention to a range of pressing national concerns during today’s meeting.
Speaking during zero hour, member Krishna Bahadur Rokaya urged the government to take immediate action against those involved in luring Nepali youths to Uttarakhand, India, under the pretext of lucrative jobs and subsequently rescuing them. He called for identification and punishment of those responsible for taking the youths hostage.
Member Ghanashyam Rijal stressed the urgency of appointing a Chief Administrative Officer in the 2019 local level structure, noting that the position remains vacant.
Rukmini Koirala highlighted the vital role of female community health volunteers in improving maternal and child health and called for better management of their contributions.
Renu Chand demanded an investigation and action following a fire at the Maoist Centre office in Baitadi, which destroyed important documents.
Bishnukumari Sapkota expressed public satisfaction over the discovery of natural gas reserves in Dailekh and urged the government to utilize the resource to create jobs.
Bishnu Devi Pudasaini emphasized the need for strict enforcement of pollution control standards to improve environmental quality.
Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma raised concerns over the rising number of COVID-19 and dengue cases, noting the outbreak has spread to 73 districts. He called for timely and effective response measures.
Krishna Prasad Adhikari pressed for urgent repairs on the Nawalparasi-Daunne road and for preparedness against potential disasters this monsoon, pointing out that last year’s damages have yet to be addressed.
Sabitri Malla underlined the potential of Dailekh’s 1.12 billion cubic meters of natural gas to boost national economic growth if utilized effectively.
