Finance Minister Paudel presents proposal seeking discussion on budget amid House disruptions

Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has presented a proposal in the House of Representatives to initiate a general discussion on the annual revenue and expenditure estimates for the upcoming fiscal year.

In his address, Finance Minister Paudel highlighted key provisions of the proposed budget, including the removal of taxes on organic and natural fertilizer production and measures to promote digital payments. He expressed confidence that the budget’s implementation would stimulate economic activity across the country.

However, the session was marred by continued sloganeering from lawmakers of the National Independent Party (NISP), disrupting the minister’s speech. MP Rajendra Pandey voiced concern over the disorder, urging the Speaker to ensure that the budget discussion proceeds only after restoring order in the House, noting that much of the minister’s remarks were inaudible due to the commotion.

Despite the disruptions, the general discussion on the government’s revenue and expenditure plans remains underway.
