House of Representatives meeting will resume today: Speaker Ghimire

Kathmandu: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has announced that the parliamentary session will resume this afternoon.

Speaking after attending a photo exhibition titled “Mountain Tourism: Our Pride, Our Identity” organized by RSS on the occasion of Republic Day, Speaker Ghimire stated that the House meeting—disrupted for the past few days—will reconvene at 2 PM today.

“The House shouldn’t have been halted, but it was. The meeting will now be held at 2 PM today,” Ghimire said. “Though sessions are usually held at 11 AM or 1 PM, this time it’s scheduled for 2 PM. I am hopeful that it will proceed accordingly.”

He explained that the disruption occurred during an important phase of the budget discussion. The number of participating MPs will be reduced, and the discussion will follow established procedures. “The damage has already been done. The agenda should now be adjusted, and the budget debate completed as per the rules,” he added.

Speaker Ghimire affirmed that the agenda will be prepared to ensure the budget discussion is completed within the given timeframe.
