Odisha police conducting detailed investigation regarding Nepali student’s death: Indian Foreign Ministry
May 2, Kathmandu: The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has expressed profound grief over the death of Prisha Shah, a Nepali student from Birgunj, found dead in her room on Thursday evening at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha. The ministry confirmed that the Odisha police were investigating the incident thoroughly.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the MEA said it had been in continuous contact with the Odisha state government since learning of the tragedy. The state government is extending full support to Sah’s family, the ministry noted.
Reaffirming India’s commitment to the safety, security, and well-being of all international students, the MEA described the incident as deeply distressing.
The incident follows the death of another Nepali student, Prakriti Lamsal, who was found dead under similar circumstances at KIIT in February.
