Parliament informed on NC lawmaker’s arrest
Kathmandu, April 27: The federal parliament has been informed about the arrest of Nepali Congress lawmaker Maya Rai.
In the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday, Deputy Speaker Indira Ranamagar informed that lawmaker Rai was arrested by the police over the charge of cooperative fraud.
District Police Range, Kathmandu, had written to the HoR, sharing information that Rai was held for investigation of her involvement in the case relating to cooperative fraud and organized crime.
The case is related to the fraud of Swarnalaxmi Multi-purpose Cooperatives Ltd, in which its proprietor, Jitendra Babu Rai, is also implicated. Lawmaker Rai was arrested in Budhanilakantha, Kathmandu, last night.
