Nepal-China diplomatic relation enters 70 years
Kathmandu: Nepal and China mark the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations today with celebrations in Kathmandu and Beijing.
Formal ties were established on the 1st of August 1955, though historical connections date back to the marriage of Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo and Nepali Princess Bhrikuti.
The two countries continue to prioritize relations based on Panchasheel principles—peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and non-interference.
Former Ambassador Rajeshwar Acharya highlighted China’s global role in promoting cooperation, legal governance, and peace as a permanent UN Security Council member.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to attend a reception hosted by Chinese Ambassador Chen Song this evening.
