On Air Station:

Talk of government change just a rumor: Foreign Minister Dr. Rana Deuba

Kathmandu: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has dismissed speculation about a change in government, calling it baseless and misleading.

“There is no possibility of a government change at this time. It appears to be a rumor spread by someone, perhaps for entertainment,” she told reporters at Tribhuvan International Airport upon her return from Bangkok, where she attended a high-level United Nations conference.

Responding to media queries linking the rumored change in government to Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s recent visit to Bangkok, Minister Rana clarified that the former Prime Minister had traveled solely for a routine health check-up, not for any political meeting. She also confirmed that President Deuba had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Thursday, further underlining the normalcy of political relations.

Minister Rana returned after chairing the 81st session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). She also led a special session focusing on Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

During the event, she articulated Nepal’s position on key development challenges faced by these nations, stating that Nepal’s interventions contributed to promoting the country’s national interests and raising its profile in both regional and global forums.
