Gautam Buddha International Airport to operate at full capacity soon: DPM Paudel
March 26, Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has expressed confidence that Gautam Buddha International Airport will soon operate at its full capacity. Speaking as the keynote speaker at an interaction program titled “Lumbini’s Potential,” organized by Kantipur Media Group in Bhairahawa today, he highlighted that significant decisions have been made to ensure the airport’s complete functionality in the near future.
Deputy PM Paudel acknowledged past skepticism surrounding the airport’s necessity and doubts about its completion during construction.
He emphasized that despite such concerns, the facility had been successfully built and now stood as a fully equipped international airport. He refuted claims that the airport could not operate at full capacity or that its investment had gone to waste, asserting that it would soon prove its worth by functioning at its maximum potential.
Addressing doubts about its operational viability, Deputy PM Paudel stated that the question of whether the airport will function effectively was outdated.
He explained that such concerns were common with new airports worldwide and stressed that this facility was built not just for construction’s sake but to be fully operational.
He added that multiple meetings with relevant stakeholders and authorities have taken place at the central level to devise strategies for running the airport at full capacity.
According to the Minister, some of the decisions from these discussions had already been implemented, while others were in the process of being executed.
