PM Oli prioritizes poverty alleviation in meeting with planning commission

March 14, Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, also the Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, directed officials to prioritize poverty alleviation by boosting production, productivity, and entrepreneurship.

In a discussion at Singha Durbar, he urged focus on skill development, job creation, agricultural growth, and investment, emphasizing self-reliance over mere aid.

PM Oli stressed empowering citizens, ensuring their fundamental rights, and instructing ministries to devise concrete plans to enhance productivity and strengthen the economy. He also called for effective monitoring of national pride projects and improved governance.

Commission Vice-Chair Prof. Dr. Shiva Raj Adhikari briefed on the 16th Plan’s implementation, challenges, revised project standards, and efforts to strengthen local governments for fiscal federalism. The meeting included PM’s advisor Dr. Yuvaraj Khatiwada and Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal.
