Sports journalists Bhandari and Sapkota awarded
Kathmandu: Two sports journalists have been felicitated by the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF).
At a programme marking the 29th establishment day of the NSJF, the forum feted senior sports journalist Shree Bikram Bhandari with NSJF Honour.
Bhandari is the editor of a news portal named merokhel.com. Also awarded on the occasion was another sports journalist Binay Jyoti
Sapkota. Sapkota was honoured with the Suman Bhomjan Memorial Youth Sports Journalism Award. He is associated with the Kantipur television.
Minister of Youth and Sports Tejulal Chaudhary and National Sports Council’s member-secretary Tankalal Ghising honoured both journalists. Bhandari, who has been doing sports journalism since 2044 BS, received Rs 25,000 in cash prize along with a copper plaque.
Similarly, Sapkota, who has been pursuing sports journalists for the last six years, got a copper plaque and a laptop. Congratulating the awardees, Minister Chaudhary said that efforts were underway to organize the 10th National Games as scheduled.
The National Games is scheduled to be organized in Karnali Province from coming April 5.
Likewise, the Council’s member-secretary Ghising acknowledged the special role of sports journalists in the development of the sports sector. The NSJF, an umbrella organization of sports journalists in Nepal, has been distributing awards on its anniversary.
